Mahela T. Reichstatt (Germany)

Mahela T. Reichstatt is working as the Cathedral Organist and at St. Peter's Cathedral in Schleswig since 2021. Born in Stuttgart on the day the Berlin Wall fell, she studied music and french, graduating with a Staatsexamen and a Bachelor's degree in Kirchenmusik. Further study visits of 2.5 years took her to Lyon, Toulouse and Vienna. Mahela completed her Master's degree in Organ and Master's in Kirchenmusik as well as her Konzertexamen Orgel with honours in Hamburg (class of Wolfgang Zerer). She is a national prizewinner at Jugend musiziert, a prizewinner at the First International Organ Competition in Shanghai (2017) and received a special prize at the XI. International Organ Competition Mikael Tariverdiev in Russia (2019). Her repertoire as an organist, choir director and pianist spans all eras, with a particular focus on the music of J. S. Bach and the music of the 19th and 20th centuries. She also enjoys performing as a jazz pianist and as a trumpet soloist. Mahela is a member of the main committee of the Gesellschaft der Orgelfreunde (GdO) since 2021, and active in the Orgelstadt Hamburg e.V. association. Concerts regularly take Mahela to Germany and abroad.
