John Walsh

John Walsh began his musical studies as a member of the Artane Band and subsequently studied trumpet with Josef Csibi at the College of Music, Dublin. He completed an honours degree in music performance at Trinity College Dublin under Graham Hastings (principal trumpet in the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland). John undertook further study with David Mason (Royal College of Music, London), Raymond Mase (Chair of Brass at Julliard School for Performing Arts, New York), and at masterclasses with John Wallace. In 1996, John was awarded a place at the International Summer Music Academy in Nice, France, where he studied intensively with Guy Touvron of the Paris Conservatoire, and gave several recitals. He was a gold medallist at the Dublin Feis Ceoil and a finalist in the Yamaha International Foundation Scholarship, and in 2007 he completed a masters degree in performance and musicology at Maynooth University. John performs regularly with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, the Orchestra of St Cecilia, the Orlando Chamber Orchestra and the Irish Baroque Orchestra. He is principal trumpet with the Irish Chamber Ensemble and the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra.

John is also an active teacher. He has given many lectures and masterclasses on the history, development and early playing techniques of the trumpet through the ages to the present day. In addition to his orchestral and solo work, John has recorded with Seán Hession and The Dave Gold Big Band. John played lead trumpet on tour with Lorna Luft and Dionne Warwick, and has recorded for television with Phil Coulter and Europe's longest-running TV chat programme, The Late Late Show. He has also performed in many Irish theatre productions.


Charles Pearson

Charles Pearson is one of Ireland's most talented players and improvisors and a widely recognised specialist in French and contemporary music. He has given concerts all over western Europe. He holds the positions of organist in St Philip and James Church, Blackrock, and St Mary's Church, Enniskerry, and is in demand as a soloist and accompanist.
