Laoise O’Brien studied flute at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama under William Halpin. Having completed her degree, she travelled to the Netherlands where she studied for four years in the International Recorder class of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under Paul Leenhouts and Walter van Hauwe. In 2005 Laoise completed an MA in Performance and Musicology at NUI Maynooth. Laoise is one of Ireland’s leading early wind specialists. She has performed in many capacities as soloist, chamber musician and consort player in a wide variety of styles. She has performed with many Irish ensembles including the Irish Baroque Orchestra, Camerata Kilkenny, the Irish Consort, Crux, Opera Theatre Company and the Orchestra of St Cecilia. She has toured Europe, North America and New Zealand with groups such as The Royal Wind Music, Amsterdam and Verboden Vrucht. She is currently exploring the medieval period with the new Irish-based ensemble, Morisca. Laoise is recorder tutor and Early Music co-ordinator at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama. In addition, she is in regular demand as a tutor at masterclasses and workshops in Ireland and abroad.
Andrew Robinson studied viola da gamba at summer courses, being otherwise self-taught. In the 1970s he performed in The Consort of St Sepulchre and in the eighties he conducted one of the Dublin Youth Orchestras. In the nineties he directed the music school Maoin Cheoil an Chláir in Ennis, and in the noughties he set up Smoot Scoring producing scores for publication. He has lectured in Renaissance Music in TCD and the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, and gives lessons in viola da gamba and ukulele. He is the director of The Dublin Viols.
Charles Marshall attended the Schola Cantorum at St. Finian's College, Mullingar, studying organ with Shane Brennan. In 1991, he took the post of organ scholar at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, reading music and continuing his organ studies with Peter Hurford. In 1994, Charles moved to Japan, studying the Japanese satsuma biwa lute and shakuhachi bamboo flute. After a twelve year hiatus, he started playing organ again in 2006. Upon his return to Ireland in September 2008, he recommenced his organ studies with David Adams at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, and is now enrolled in the first year of the Master of Music Performance course at this institution. He is organist and director of music at St Ann's Church, Dawson Street.
